The Casa Advantage In Storm Damage Repair
Digital Analysis
If your roof has been damaged by a storm, the strength of your claim with your insurance company depends to a large extent on the data and documentation provided to back it up. When we work on your behalf to file a storm damage roof claim, we’ll start by gathering info on the date of the storm, the type, and the severity. From there we’ll do a full and comprehensive storm inspection to gather the evidence. We’ll inspect all areas of your property—from the roof and gutters to the grill and all the way out to the mailbox—documenting areas of damage with digital photos. We’ll compile a detailed analysis of the damage, backed by data and photo evidence, into a digital document. In this way we have a “complete story” to submit to the insurance company—and you’re fully equipped to maximize your claim.
Our “Bumper-to-Bumper” Warranty
At Casa Builders & Construction, we’re so confident in the quality of our products and the expertise of our installation, we offer among the best warranties in the industry. We call it our bumper-to-bumper warranty, and it covers all labor and materials against manufacturer and installation defects for 15 years. And that’s on top of any warranty provided by the manufacturer. When we install or repair your roof, with our bumper-to-bumper warranty you can have confidence that you and your home are protected for years to come.
Get Started With A Free Roof Inspection
Regardless of whether you have storm damage or are filing a claim, the first step of any roofing project is a comprehensive inspection, to assess the condition of the roof and to determine the scope of the project. Our free comprehensive roof inspection includes the following elements:
-
Examination of all soft metal components (chimney caps, turtle vents, gutters, etc) for exterior damage
-
Checking the condition of the shingles, looking for cracked matting, wind-lifted areas, installation defects, holes, or missing shingles
-
Assessing for areas of possible intrusion around chimneys, vents, and other penetrations
-
Inspection of all roof flashing, such as around chimneys, in valleys, and at roof edges, to ensure it is intact and free from damage
-
Looking at the gutters for any damage, blockages, or misalignment and ensuring that they are properly channeling water away from the roof

Roof Types: Pros & Cons
At Casa Builders & Construction, we want to give you the roof that suits your budget and your style. To help you decide, here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of various roof types. Whatever your choice, we’re experienced and equipped to install them all.
Asphalt Shingles
-
Our most popular roof type and among the least expensive options
-
Available in a wide array of colors
-
Can be expected to last 15-30 years depending on environmental conditions and maintenance
-
Maintenance includes regular inspections, particularly after weather events, and replacing any damaged shingles
-
An ideal choice for many of our customers due to their affordability, variety of styles, and ease of installation
Metal Roofs
-
Durable and environmentally friendly, quickly gaining popularity among our customers
-
Can be made from a variety of metals, including steel, aluminum, copper, and zinc (most of our customers choose steel or aluminum)
-
Can last 40-70 years
-
Resistant to cracking and shrinking
-
Require minimal maintenance, mostly checking seams and fasteners for re-sealing
-
Eco-friendly—often both recycled and recyclable—and energy-efficient
-
Initial cost can be high but in the long run they make up the difference in durability and low maintenance costs
Cedar Shake Roofs
-
A distinct and classic look, featuring wooden shingles made from split cedar logs
-
Naturally resistant to decay and insects
-
The thickness and irregular shape of cedar shakes lends the roof a nice textured appearance
-
Can be expected to last about 30 years
-
Relatively high-maintenance: in order to maximize their longevity they need to be cleaned regularly, treated with preservatives, and stained
-
Initial cost is high—installation is labor intensive and requires expertise and exquisite craftsmanship
Slate Roofs
-
Naturally beautiful, with colors from gray, green, and black to purple and red
-
Extremely durable, with a lifespan that can exceed 100 years with proper maintenance
-
Resistant to harsh weather, fire, rotting, and pests
-
Require minimal maintenance—mostly inspections to check for damaged or slipped slates
-
Initial cost is high due to material costs and specialized labor required for installation, but long lifespan and low maintenance can make them cost-effective long-term
-
Heavy—not all structures can support their weight without reinforcement
-
Low environmental impact and completely recyclable
Tile Roofs
-
Can be made from clay, concrete, or synthetic materials
-
Wide range of colors and styles, from traditional barrel tiles to flat tiles
-
Very durable, with life spans ranging from 50 to 100 years
-
Relatively uncommon in climates such as ours in Minnesota
-
Low maintenance, except for occasional cleaning and potentially replacement of underlayment every 20-30 years
-
Initial investment is high due to materials and the skill required for installation, but this can be offset over time by their durability
-
Tiles are heavy, requiring evaluation of the home’s structural integrity to ensure it can bear the weight
-
Excellent thermal properties, keeping your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter
